Las Vegas Aces star A'ja Wilson is one of the world's best women's basketball players today, and she is probably used to playing against elite competition.
However, the reigning WNBA Finals MVP offered insights into the dynamic when these formidable opponents become her teammates on the USA basketball squad for international contests.
"I go from you being my rival, absolutely can't stand you, to now it's like, 'Girl, let's go get this gold'... It's very hard to do that. But it also shows how elite the athletes are when you make it to that stage," the 27-year-old said at the Time100 Summit on Wednesday, April 24, in New York City.
Earlier this month, Wilson participated in the Team USA basketball camp held in Cleveland, Ohio, from April 3 to 5.
Notably, her WNBA rivals also received invitations, including Diana Taurasi and Brittney Griner from the Phoenix Mercury, Breanna Stewart and Sabrina Ionescu from the New York Liberty, and Jewell Loyd from the Seattle Storm.
A'ja Wilson named among Time 100 Most Influential People
The two-time WNBA Most Valuable Player expressed her views on the Olympics during the Time100 Summit in New York.
Wilson was recently confirmed to be included in this year's prestigious Time 100 Most Influential People list.
"Wilson is not just an incredible athlete, she is also an inspiration to all who witness her talent and drive. Her journey is a testament to the power of passion and fearlessness in achieving greatness," said NFL legend and Aces minority owner Tom Brady, who wrote her entry in the magazine.
