Monte Carlo Masters 2024: Novak Djokovic Could Reach an Unachievable Height if He Wins Title

Novak Djokovic hasn't won anything this year, but if he does rule the Monte Carlo Masters 2024, not only will he add another trophy to his cabinet, but he will also achieve something that probably no athlete can achieve in this lifetime.

The Serbian great, who already owns the record for most Grand Slam titles, can create a separation between himself and any other player by lording over the Monte Carlo happening in France.

Djokovic can become the first tennis player to win all four Grand Slams, all nine ATP Masters titles, and the ATP Finals at least three times.

He has won all the tournaments there at least three times, but he won the French ATP tournament just twice.

The tournament he won the most was the Australian Open at 10. The closest record is six owned by Roy Emerson during the amateur era.

In terms of the ATP Masters, the tournament he won the most was the Paris Masters, which he won seven times.

Standing at Monte-Carlo Masters 2024

Djokovic, who recently became the oldest World no. 1 in the ATP rankings, cruised past Roman Safiullin in his first match at Monte Carlo.

The match had a 6-1, 6-2 scoreline, ending after one hour and 10 minutes.

Speaking to reporters after the match, Djokovic shared that he feels great amid the setback he's been through since the start of the year, including withdrawing from the Miami Open.

"It is a really great first match at the start of the clay season," he said.

"It has always been a little bit up and down. Last year as well, I started off well at this tournament and the second match I lost, so I hope to maintain this rhythm."

He will face Italy's Lorenzo Musetti in the third round.
