Novak Djokovic added another gem to his legendary career after becoming the oldest player to rank No. 1 in ATP rankings at 36.
He is only the eighth player aged 30 and above to get the top ranking in the history of professional tennis. The Serbian great surpassed Roger Federer for such distinction.
The feat is a testament to Djokovic's longevity and greatness.
However, what comes with such distinction is the thought that he will drop the racket soon for retirement.
His fans will feel sad about the possibility, but Djokovic himself is already entertaining the idea at this point.
He has something planned, and it involves another tennis great.
Djokovic wants last encounter with Rafael Nadal
Djokovic heard that Rafael Nadal withdrew from the Monte Carlo Masters and thought the Spaniard might be ready for another rodeo at the French Open.
The Serbian great hopes to get another crack at Nadal, who announced earlier that he would retire by the end of 2024.
"We all know what he's done on clay in his career, particularly Roland Garros," Djokovic said.
"That's his goal, we all know that, he's been saying it. For the sake of all tennis and Roland Garros in particular, we hope that he can play there. It would be great to have another great encounter."
French Open 2024 will commence on May 20. That's approximately one month for Nadal to stay healthy.
The two are regarded as the greatest of all time in professional tennis. They forged one of the most colorful rivalries in the sport's history.
They have met 59 times, with Djokovic leading 30-29.
