The MMA internet was sent into a frenzy after Conor McGregor posted a video on Instagram with the simple caption, "Coming soon."
The Irish fighter last entered the octagon for an official fight in 2020, and many have been waiting for him to return to professional fighting.
His post became more intriguing when UFC president Dana White reposted McGregor's "Coming soon" post on his IG story, although it has since been deleted.
McGregor, 35, is busy with his businesses and Hollywood, but his return to UFC has never been ruled out.
Many expect his return to be confirmed at the UFC 300, the organization's milestone event, which will take place on April 13 at the AT&T Stadium.
Queue for Conor McGregor's next fight
A number of big names are racing to have themselves put next to McGregor in a fight card.
Michael Chandler is the most prominent fighter lined up to face McGregor in his return fight.
The lightweight has already confirmed his bout with the Irish this summer.
"I've got the official announcement. It's happening this summer," he said.
"I can't tell you the actual date, but it's happening this summer!"
Other fighters are not convinced by Chandler, though, saying his status as a fighter is not as high as that of other contenders.
"Sucks, right? With all due respect to Chandler, I'm not taking anything away from him, but what is his history in the UFC?" said Charles Oliveira's trainer, Diego Lima, in an interview with MMA Fighting.
"How many fights did he do in the UFC? Of course, he sells, he has a name, I agree with that, but [Justin] Gaethje, [Dustin] Poirier, Charles, [Islam] Makhachev, they all have done more than Chandler in the UFC."
McGregor, notable for becoming the first UFC fighter to hold the Featherweight and Lightweight Championship simultaneously, last stepped on the octagon in 2021 when he lost twice to Dustin Poirier.
His current record is 22-6.
Conor McGregor's Hollywood career
Right now, McGregor is busy with his Hollywood career.
The 35-year-old made his feature film debut on "Road House" opposite Jake Gyllenhaal.
In the film, he played Knox, a henchman tasked to hunt down Gyllenhaal's character Dalton, a former MMA fighter.
Critics panned McGregor's acting, but he is not giving up. He vows to do more films.
He is ready to go full swing on Tinsel Town with Arnold Schwarzenegger as his inspiration.
However, he maintains that he is, first and foremost, a fighter and leaves the door open for a return.
"I was just in awe of it all, to be honest with you, the whole process," McGregor told Total Film.
"I didn't know how I was going to take to it. I didn't know whether I was going to like it, to be honest.
"I'm a fighting man - that's my bread and butter. It's where I come from... I'm not an actor, but I'm show business. That was my vibe to it. I felt that. I enjoyed every second of it."
