Caitlin Clark failed yet again to capture an NCAA title after her team lost to the South Carolina Gamecocks in the championship game.
The Iowa Hawkeyes star did everything she could, recording 30-8-5 in the 87-75 loss.
Before the game, there was an intense debate about whether she needed to win a title to be considered college basketball's greatest of all time.
That question will probably never be answered. The debate will go on and on.
Despite the loss, Clark is getting her flowers, and none is probably more treasured than the message from her boyfriend.
Clark's longtime boyfriend, Connor McCaffery, immediately took to Instagram to console his girlfriend after the loss, calling her his GOAT.
McCaffery is a former Hawkeye, now a coach with the NBA's Indiana Pacers.
His father, Fran McCaffery, has been coaching the Iowa men's basketball team since 2010.
Clark's reaction to the loss
Although she did not get the elusive NCAA title, Clark said she regrets nothing with her college career.
"Looking back now, I think I would just be proud of the way I worked for this moment and earned it," she said.
"Nothing was ever given. I was in the gym all the time. I matured a lot mentally and physically. People believed in me, people pushed me, people held me accountable. And those are the things that I'm thankful for and that's why I'm here right now."
She will leave college basketball and the Iowa Hawkeyes as one of the greatest ever.
Clark has declared herself available for the 2024 WNBA draft, in which she is projected to be the top overall pick.
