Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James has encountered some hurdles in his remarkable career, and he recently identified the most challenging moment among them.
The NBA's all-time leading scorer highlighted the 2011 NBA Finals against the Dallas Mavericks as the lowest point of his career.
"I played like s--t... I told myself the way I played, unacceptable," James said on the latest episode of his Mind the Game podcast with JJ Redick.
Facing unprecedented media and fan scrutiny, the Heat was heavily favored to win the title ahead of the series.
However, a huge dip in LeBron's performance and a sensational postseason from Dirk Nowitzki helped the Mavericks capture their first title in franchise history in a stunning upset.
Learning from the debacle, James told his co-host that he returned for the 2011-12 campaign and was locked in from start to finish, ultimately winning his first title that season.
LeBron James made unflattering NBA history in 2011 NBA Finals
James averaged 17.8 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 6.8 assists while shooting 47.8 percent from the floor and 32.1 percent from beyond the arc in the six-game championship round series against the Mavericks.
Although the numbers may appear respectable, it's worth noting that James averaged 26.7 points in the 2010-11 regular season.
His 8.9-point scoring decline remains the largest point drop-off in NBA history from the regular season to the Finals.
