Former NBA guard Kevin Porter Jr. faced a domestic violence charge during the past offseason last September 2023, but he is now on track to resume his professional basketball career.
Following his arrest, he was traded from the Houston Rockets to the Oklahoma City Thunder a month later, who subsequently waived him upon the completion of the transaction.
Now, the 23-year-old has agreed to a deal with Greek club PAOK for the remainder of their ongoing campaign, as reported by league insiders Shams Charania and Kelly Iko of The Athletic.
Porter allegedly assaulted his girlfriend, WNBA player Kysre Gondrezick of the Chicago Sky, at a hotel. He was officially charged with assault and strangulation, both of which are felonies.
The former USC Trojans player was on the verge of entering the first year of a four-year, $82 million extension signed in the summer of 2022.
Kevin Porter Jr. recently agreed to a plea deal
In January 2024, Porter Jr. accepted a plea deal with prosecutors in a Manhattan court, ending the messy saga.
The 6-foot-4 combo guard pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of reckless assault and a second-degree harassment violation.
"The resolution will allow Mr. Porter to put this incident, which involved false felony allegations and false facts, behind him with no criminal record and move forward," the player's legal team said in a statement.
