Italian tennis star Jannik Sinner is widely recognized as one of the most promising talents in the sport.

Despite his recent on-court success, his parents choose not to attend most games due to sentimental family reasons.

"They won't travel much, at least until now. I know them, so I also have grandma and grandpa, which they have a certain age now which they want to stay close to. We have the family at that home. They live in a beautiful place, so they have a good life there [in Italy]," the 22-year-old remarked following his win in the final of the 2024 Miami Open on Sunday, March 31.

Despite this sentiment, his father was able to attend the Indian Wells Open held earlier this month in California, although Sinner lost in the semifinals to Spanish star and rival Carlos Alcaraz, who snapped his 19-game unbeaten streak.

Jannik Sinner wins 2024 Miami Open, achieves career-high ranking

Sinner won the 2024 Miami Open final, defeating Bulgarian player Grigor Dimitrov in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1, in a one-sided affair.

With this latest title win, he is set to achieve a career-high ATP ranking of world No. 2, overtaking Carlos Alcaraz and trailing only Novak Djokovic.

The Sexten native has made history by becoming the first Italian tennis player to reach the Top 2 in either ATP or WTA rankings.
