Four teams' starts in the MLB 2024 season will be slightly delayed, as a rainy forecast forces officials to reschedule.

Instead of all teams playing on Thursday, March 28, the New York Mets hosting of the Milwaukee Brewers and the Atlanta Braves Division series rematch with the Philadelphia Phillies will be played on Friday instead.

The opening day would have been the first full slate of the season.

The rescheduling was well-received by teams despite many players expressing excitement for the league's start.

"I'd rather play when it's safe for the guys, obviously," new Milwaukee manager Pat Murphy told reporters after the announcement.

"Our pitching is a moving target a little bit, you know what I mean? So it's nicer to have those off days in between, to be honest. But you've gotta do what you've gotta do."

The Mets-Brewers game will kick off at 1:40 p.m., while the Braves vs the Phillies will start at 3:05 p.m.

Other must-watch games on MLB Opening Day

The Mets have the highest payroll this season, and it will be intriguing to see how much they have improved from last season.

The Philadelphia Phillies also make for an exciting team to watch with the signing of Zack Wheeler.

Another must-watch series for the opening week is the St. Louis Cardinals vs Los Angeles Dodgers game as embattled Shohei Ohtani struts his stuff with his new team.

The Texas Rangers will start their title defense against the Chicago Cubs.

It is a battle of title contenders at Petco Park as the San Francisco Giants visit the San Diego Padres.
