The United States men's basketball team will encounter a significant challenge as early as the group stages of the upcoming 2024 Summer Olympic Games in Paris, which will be held from July 27 to August 11 this year.

The tournament Draw Ceremony took place on Tuesday, March 19, at the Patrick Baumann House of Basketball in Mies, Switzerland.

Team USA has been drawn in Group C alongside Serbia, South Sudan, and the eventual winner of the Olympic Qualifying Tournament in San Juan, Puerto Rico, which will be determined less than a month before the Olympics.

The Americans will certainly have a hard time against Serbia, which currently holds fourth place in the FIBA World Rankings.

The European nation boasts key players such as Nikola Jokic, the reigning NBA Finals MVP and Denver Nuggets star; Atlanta Hawks shooting guard Bogdan Bogdanović; Charlotte Hornets point guard Vasilije Micić; and Miami Heat power forward Nikola Jović.

Serbia finished second during the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup, losing the gold medal game to Germany 83-77.
