Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards continues his death-defying ways in the NBA. He should be called the "Daredevil."

This time, on the offensive side of the court.

More than a week after his nasty block on Benedict Mathurin to seal the win over the Indiana Pacers, he is at it again.

The internet officially awarded Edwards the Dunk of the Year after his gravity-defying "slamma jamma" on Utah Jazz forward John Collins.

That play had no business becoming a dunk. Edwards did not have the momentum leading up to the play. He was just casually jogging before Nickeil Alexander-Walker surrendered the ball to him.

To everyone's surprise, Edwards jumped on both feet, elevated on top of a good shot blocker in John Collins, and boom, he made a play that has been viewed hundreds of thousands of times in just an hour. What's freakish about it is that he made it look easy when it is a play nobody has seen before.

Is Anthony Edward's dunk on John Collins the Dunk of the Year this season?

Other plays blessed by fans as the Dunk of the Year before this one:

1. Jalen Green nasty fastbreak dunk

Houston Rockets guard Jalen Green, who was just adjudged the Player of the Week in the Western Conference, will probably be the best dunk of the season if not for Edwards' most recent play. The young guard showed off his absurd athleticism in their game against the Portland Trail Blazers in a fastbreak play from a turnover. Green recorded one of the most thunderous plays this season from a stellar defensive stance.

He made the play against a high jumper in former slam dunk champion Anfernee Simmons.

The difficulty level is there as he had to chuck the ball back to keep it away from the defender.

The play had people in Moda Arena-home fans and Houston supporters-up on their feet.

2. Andre Jackson's head above the rim

This will not win because it happened late in a blowout game and because Andre Jackson is not a household name.

Still, this is one dunk that nobody can repeat.

One's chin above the rim? It cannot be duplicated.

In the game against the Sacramento Kings, Andre Jackson came in to relieve the starters. He immediately made an impact in a follow-up dunk off a miss by teammate AJ Green.

Even DeAaron Fox from the Sacramento Kings bench can't help but react to the unbelievable play.

3. Jalen Johnson on Austin Reaves' head

This play happened just under an hour after Edwards' dunk on John Collins. Two Dunk of the Year candidates in one night, indeed.

How rare is it to see someone go over a legit NBA player? Giannis Antetokounmpo did it in 2018 and won the Dunk of the Year award by the end of the season.

Jalen Johnson did it by jumping over Austin Reaves, who was hoping to take a charge during a fastbreak play. Little did he know was that the Atlanta Hawks can jump really high.

To make it worse, he was called for a blocking foul.

4. Trayce Jackson-Davis on Wemby

This made the list only because it was a dunk face-to-face against super rookie and bean pole Victor Wembanyama.

The difficulty level is as high as the others play in this list.

The Golden State Warriors' 57th overall pick of 2023 introduced himself to everyone and Wemby by stuffing the ball on his head, to the surprise of everyone, including his teammates.
