The Minnesota Lynx are set to honor one of their legendary players, Maya Moore, in a gesture that would delight the NCAA Division I's all-time leading scorer and Iowa Hawkeyes star Caitlin Clark.
The team has revealed plans to retire Moore's iconic #23 jersey on August 24 during their game against the Indiana Fever.
On the other hand, the Fever holds the first overall pick in this year's WNBA Draft, and expectations are high that they will select Clark with that pick.
This suggests that Clark will likely be present to witness the jersey retirement of one of her "heroes."
Maya Moore is Caitlin Clark's favorite player
Clark has openly expressed that Maya Moore is her favorite player.
Given that the Minnesota Lynx is the closest WNBA team to her hometown of Des Moines, Iowa, the Hawkeyes star has demonstrated her dedication by traveling with her father for three and a half hours to attend Lynx games and witness Moore's remarkable performances in person.
The former Lynx star made a surprise appearance before Clark's game against Ohio State on Sunday, March 3, which coincided with her Senior Day.
Moore appeared during an interview with ESPN's Elle Duncan with Clark, sparking a scream of joy from the college basketball star.
