FC Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez praised striker Robert Lewandowski for his standout performance in their pivotal 3-0 away victory against Atletico Madrid on Sunday, March 17, at the Civitas Metropolitan Stadium in Madrid.

"Lewandowski may have played his best match since becoming a Barça player," the 44-year-old tactician declared.

The Polish international played a pivotal role in all three of Barcelona's goals, beginning with assisting forward Joao Felix, who is on loan from Atletico, for Barcelona's opening goal of the match in the 39th minute.

The 35-year-old then found the net himself just two minutes into the second half. Later, Lewandowski assisted midfielder Fermin Lopez's goal in the 66th minute, ultimately helping Barcelona secure the win.

Barcelona has now risen to the second spot in La Liga, trailing leaders Real Madrid by eight points with nine league matches remaining in the season.

Another standout performance by Barcelona despite missing two starters

Xavi's side showcased another brilliant performance despite facing the setback of losing two key midfield starters, Frenkie de Jong and Pedri, to injuries sustained during their La Liga fixture against Athletic Club on Sunday, March 3.

"We may have played our best game of the season. We are in our best moment and we can dream, we are not ruling anything out, that's what I told the players," the 44-year-old tactician added.
