The Houston Rockets received positive news regarding the injury status of star center Alperen Sengun.

The 21-year-old has avoided a significant injury to his lower right leg, experiencing only a severe sprained right ankle and a bone bruise on his right knee, according to league insider Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

The 6-foot-11 player has emerged as one of the league's breakout stars this season, boasting averages of 21.1 points, 9.3 rebounds, and 5.0 assists in 63 games.

However, the Rockets will be without their best player for an extended period. While Sengun hasn't been officially ruled out for the season, a substantial healing process is required before he can be cleared to play again before the end of the season.

The Rockets' final regular-season game for the 2023-24 NBA season will be a road matchup against the Los Angeles Clippers on April 14 at the Crypto.com Arena.

They currently sit 11th in the Western Conference standings with a 29-35 record, 4.5 games behind the 10th-place Golden State Warriors in the play-in tournament range.

Alperen Sengun's injury looked bad at first

Sengun went down grimacing in pain with less than a minute remaining in their road game against the Sacramento Kings on Sunday, March 10, at the Golden 1 Center.

The Turkish center contested a fastbreak layup by Kings star Domantas Sabonis before landing awkwardly on his right leg. Initially, his injury appeared severe as he was wheeled out of the playing court.
