Aston Martin have left a lukewarm feeling after the F1 Bahrain Grand Prix, logging a P9 and P10 finish. Although they did score points in this race, it wasn't as many as they'd hoped; with this result being far behind their impressive start in 2023 with a podium in the first race.

It is safe to say Aston Martin did pick up where they left off last year, unfortunately it was backwards. The team saw early success but fell off later in the year, setting back to around the fifth fastest team on the grid.

Drivers Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll qualified about where we expected comparatively to the rest; Alonso in P6 and Stroll in P12. But the team saw a disappointing race day that started in agony with Stroll being spun out by Haas' Nico Hulkenberg at the first corner.

This was followed by Alonso slowly losing places to eventually falling to P9 on the day, but kept himself in the points on a patient drive managing tires. The silver lining to the day was Stroll's comeback from last all the way up to a points finish in P10. It is evident that the team is certainly still in points plays and of the faster teams, but not by much.

This may not be the ideal starting point compared to last season but can be a decent sign of better finishes to come; as now the team will have to move upward on the grid as opposed to down the grid like last year.
