By far the biggest let down this season comes from the French F1 team, Alpine. As if last year's Alpine collapse was enough, this year could possibly see French Constructor dead last in the standings.

French driver pair of Pier Gasly and Esteban Ocon are left rather helpless to the painfully slow A524. Bahrain's qualifying would see both Alpine cars qualify dead last at P19 for Ocon and P20 for Gasly. Unlike the other lower end teams like Haas and Kick Sauber, Alpine did not show any improvement in race pace at least. Ocon logged a P17 finish and Gasly at P18 on race day.

The move up in placement wasn't due to improved race performance but was gifted due to bad luck from two other drivers. Williams' Logan Sargeant went off track having steering wheel issues and Kick Sauber's Valtteri Bottas being at the bad end of a long pit stop once again.

Alpine will look to the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix to possibly get a better idea of their placement on the grid, but as of right now they remain dead last amongst others and heads are already starting to roll.
