The Edmonton Oilers parted with their first round draft pick to get veteran center Adam Henrique from the Anaheim Ducks before Friday's NHL Trade Deadline.
Every contending team in the NHL can always make use of another center, and the Anaheim Ducks had one up for grabs in veteran Adam Henrique. The Ducks, in a three-team trade, have sent off Adam Henrique, Sam Carrick, and a 7th round pick to the Edmonton Oilers for a 2024 conditional 1st round pick and a conditional 2025 5th round pick (Becomes a 4th if Oilers win the Cup). The third team, Tampa Bay Lightning, will receive an Edmonton 4th round pick as Tampa will also send a reserve list player.
Trade call(s) going down now:
To #Oilers: Adam Henrique (75% retained), Sam Carrick, 7th Rd Pick
To #NHLDucks: EDM 2024 1st Rd Pick, Cond. 2025 5th Rd Pick

Tampa also must send a reserve list player.— Frank Seravalli (@frank_seravalli) March 6, 2024
When talking about NHL trade deadline targets, it is always a possibility that the player ultimately just does not get moved. Whether it's the contract situation, the return, or the selling team deciding to try to retain the player to make their own push, slam-dunk rentals stay put all the time.
If there is a player ahead of the March trade deadline that is a stone-cold lock to be on a new team, it's Adam Henrique. He's a productive veteran center on an expiring contract, and his current team has voiced a willingness to retain salary to facilitate a trade.
On a floundering Anaheim Ducks team, Henrique has been a bright spot, putting up 35 points in 51 games and a -1 plus/minus on a team with a -48 goal differential.
