On into Day 2 of F1 Pre-Season Testing in Bahrain, where Ferrari take the day as the quickest overall team. In similar fashion to Red Bull yesterday, Ferrari led the second day of testing for pretty much the entirety of the session.

Ferrari's Leclerc Starts High and Ends Low During the Morning Session

The day started with the freshly extended Monégasque driver Charles Leclerc setting the quickest time and then his Spanish teammate Carlos Sainz locking in a Ferrari 1-2 for a portion of the testing.

Unfortunately, Leclerc's speedy morning was halted as a loose drain cover damaged the floor of his Scarlet race car. The morning session was later Red Flagged because of this, giving teams an early lunch break.

Red Flags and the red Ferrari have ironically become synonymous with each other. But things are looking up for the Italian team as they will be adding the seven-time champ Lewis Hamilton in the 2025 season. For a good portion of the afternoon session, Hamilton held second fastest before Red Bull's Sergio Perez took that spot towards the end of the testing day.

Sainz Keeps Ferrari on Top

Out the gates of the afternoon, Carlos Sains pranced his horse to the top of the times table and held the top spot for the remainder of Day 2 Pre-Season testing.

Carlos Sainz, whose contract is due to end after this season, is already making his case to other F1 teams in 2025. With multiple top team seats potentially being open in 2025, in Mercedes and possibly Red Bull, Sainz began his campaign to promote himself as a desired driver for 2025.

Perez had a couple technical issues, but was still able to log well over the century lap mark. Other drivers to hit over 100 laps today would include Lewis Hamilton with Mercedes and Logan Sargeant with Williams. This came with Max Verstappen, George Russell, and Alex Albon taking the day off from driving.
