Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo is being suspended for two games after violating the league's performance-enhancing substance policy, per ESPN Adam Schefter.

Schefter revealed that the violation is related to Garoppolo using a prescribed medication without having a valid therapeutic.

Garoppolo will serve the suspension and not appeal it. However, the Raiders will likely cut the quarterback to prevent paying him an 11.25 million dollar bonus.

He signed a three-year, 72.75 million dollar contract with the Raiders last March guaranteeing 33.75 a season. This is after spending six seasons with the San Francisco 49ers, helping lead them to Super Bowl LIV, where they fell to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Garoppolo also spent four seasons as the backup behind Tom Brady with the New England Patriots.

Now, Garoppolo will likely be looking for a new team next season after a disappointing season in Las Vegas.

He played only seven games during the 2023 season before being benched in October for rookie Aidan O'Connell.

Once Garoppolo is released, the Raiders will only have two quarterbacks on the roster, Aidan O'Connell and veteran Brian Hoyer.

The Raiders have undergone several changes already, bringing back interim head coach Antonio Pierce and hiring Tom Telesco as general manager.

The Raiders will look to add another quarterback, either by draft or signing one via free agency.

Under the new rule, Garoppolo will be able to participate in offseason activities and training camp, but once the regular season starts he will miss the first two weeks due to the suspension.
