Iowa guard Caitlin Clark made history last night, breaking former Washington forward Kelsey Plum's scoring record and becoming the NCAA women's all-time leading scorer in Iowa's 106-89 win against Michigan.

"The coolest thing is just the names I get to be around," Clark, 22, said when she took over No. 2 on the list on Jan. 31. "Those are people that I grew up watching, especially Kelsey Plum, Brittney Griner, Kelsey Mitchell. Those are really, really great players."

Coming into Thursday's matchup, Clark needed eight points to break the record. She did so by pulling from deep on the left side of the court to surpass Plum's 3,527 points.

Caitlin Clark: Record Breaking

Clark continued her pouring, dropping a career-high 49 points against Michigan. She scored 23 points in the first half and continued to look unstoppable throughout the contest.

She finished the contest with 49 points, 13 rebounds, and five assists.

Clark has built up a case to be one of the greatest women's basketball players ever. She is currently averaging 32.1 points, seven rebounds, and 8.3 assists per game. She currently owns the women's NCAA record for 30 point games at 51 games.

She is one of five women players in Division I history to surpass 1,000 career assists and 148 behind all-time leader Andrea Nagy.

She currently sits third all-time for men and women in points behind Antoine Davis (3,664) and Pete Maravich (3,667). She is likely on pace to topple both of them from the record as Iowa has five regular season games remaining and then would compete in the Big Ten Tournament and the NCAA Women's March Madness Tournament.

Iowa is likely to make a deep run in both the Big Ten and NCAA Tournament where they are projected to be the No.1 seed.

It's also likely if Clark opts to enter the WNBA Draft she'll be the No.1 overall pick, selected by the Indiana Fever.
