NBA Trade Deadline: 76ers Patrick Beverly to Bucks

The Philadelphia 76ers are trading scrappy veteran point guard Patrick Beverly to the Milwaukee Bucks for Cameron Payne and a Milwaukee 2027 second round pick, according to Shams Charania of the Athletic.

Through 47 games this season, Beverly is averaging 6.3 points per game along with 3.1 rebounds and 3.1 assists.

Though he isn't known for his scoring prowess, Beverly would provide a much-needed defensive spark for a Bucks team that has struggled on that side of the floor throughout the season.

The Milwaukee Bucks, who are currently 33-18 on the season and have fired head coach Adrian Griffin for Doc Rivers, have been ranked 18th in defense after trading Jrue Holiday to the Portland Trail Blazers in the Damian Lillard trade.

The Sixers would be receiving Cameron Payne, who has proved to be a solid backup during his time with the Phoenix Suns, as he had helped them make the finals back in 2021.

Payne averages 6.3 points, 1.3 rebounds, and 2.3 assists in 47 games with the Bucks and would likely be a suitable backup for rising all-star Tyrese Maxey.

Payne would join the Sixers, who are currently the fifth seed in a stacked Eastern Conference.

The 76ers have been busy so far before the trade deadline, as they acquired Buddy Hield from the Pacers for Marcus Morris and Furkan Korkman earlier today as well.
