Scuderia Ferrari had a busy last couple weeks as they just re-signed Charles Leclerc and now are making moves to acquire legendary English racer Lewis Hamilton from Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 Team in 2025. The contract is yet to be finalized, but there has been rumblings of Hamilton being connected to the Italian motorsport team throughout this offseason.

Ferrari have also been decisive in re-signing young Monegasques talent Charles Leclerc earlier last week. Leclerc's contract has him locked into Ferrari till 2028, only with an exit clause in 2026 depending on the Italian constructor's ability to produce a championship caliber car.

What Does Lewis Hamilton Bring to Ferrari?

Lewis Hamilton, a seven-time world champion, can contribute quite a bit of consistency to the Scuderia. Hamilton has been on the winning end of Formula 1 seasons due to the magical pairing of his driving talents and Mecedes' ability to deliver a dominant car for the better part of a decade. As of lately, Mercedes car designs have been lacking and the German constructor has made it clear that they want to begin tailoring their car designs to better suit their own young talent in George Russell.

Hamilton brings a much needed winning culture to Ferrari. Ferrari have developed a relatively competitive car these past few seasons, but their Achilles heel has been within their race day strategic plans.

The 2022 season should've been the year for Ferrari to have a driver hoist the championship trophy, but instead their falters in strategy cost the team championship points on multiple occasions. Hamilton hopefully can carry over some valuable strategic advice and experience for Ferrari's team overall.

Chales Leclerc's astonishing pace over one lap has helped Ferrari see their car take pole position multiple times; but the lack of tire management, pit strategy, and overall dominance by Red Bull over the past year have put Ferrari in position to make changes.

Charles Leclerc Future with Ferrari but Carlos Sainz Departure

Starting last year, Ferrari made a change of managers from Mattia Binotto to Frederic Vasseur. This past season it was in question which driver the Scuderia would prefer to move forward with. As of lately, leading up to this season's car reveals, Ferrari have made their intentions clear.

Unfortunately, with an expiring contract after this year, Spanish driver Carlos Sainz will not be in a Scarlett Ferrari in 2025. This may not be a bad thing, as the talented driver has all of this year to prove his worth to be in a F1 car the following year.
