Sacramento Kings center Domantas Sabonis has emerged as one of the best big men in the game. The 27-year-old is a Lithuanian national but was born in Portland when his father, European all-time basketball legend Arvydas Sabonis, played for the Blazers in the 1990s.

The Oklahoma City Thunder drafted Sabonis with the 11th overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft after two seasons of college basketball at Georgia University.

Following his rookie year in OKC, Sabonis and Victor Oladipo were traded to the Indiana Pacers in exchange for Paul George. Sabonis earned All-Star honors twice in Indiana, in 2020 and 2021.

However, he was acquired by the Kings from the Indiana Pacers during the middle of the 2021-22 NBA season in a surprising trade, where Sacramento gave up rising star Tyrese Haliburton and other players.

It is in Sacramento where Sabonis blossomed, earning his third All-Star selection and first All-NBA honors, securing a spot on the Third Team in 2022-23.

Let's look at Domantas Sabonis's contract, career earnings, and salary.

Domantas Sabonis' Contract: $217 million

During the summer of 2023, Sabonis inked a lucrative five-year deal with the Kings valued at $217 million, which includes $195 million in new money, as reported by NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

At the time of the deal, the three-time NBA All-Star had one year remaining in his previous four-year contract signed with the Pacers back in 2019, amounting to $77 million in total with $22 million in salary for the 2023-24 season.

Sacramento restructured Sabonis' 2023-24 salary to $30.6 million and added four more years to the contract, ensuring his stay in California's state capital until the conclusion of the 2027-28 NBA season.

Before his extension in 2019, Sabonis was on a rookie scale contract worth $11.1 million for the first four seasons of his career, signed with the Thunder upon being drafted. It paid an average annual salary of nearly $2.8 million.

Domantas Sabonis' Career Earnings

By the conclusion of the 2023-24 NBA season, Sabonis is anticipated to have garnered $110.3 million solely from his NBA salary during his eight seasons in the league, per Spotrac.

This calculation does not include potential earnings from off-court ventures such as endorsements and partnerships. The mentioned amount does not consider deductions like taxes, agent fees, or other business-related expenses.

Anticipating the conclusion of his current contract after the 2027-28 NBA season, the former Gonzaga Bulldogs standout is projected to have accumulated career earnings surpassing $285.9 million by that time.

Sabonis will be either 31 or 32 years old when negotiations for his next deal begin, and the potential value of it depends on whether he continues to perform well just outside of his prime. His style of play might age gracefully due to his finesse, influencing the terms and value of his future contract.

Domantas Sabonis' Salary 2023-24

During the 2023-24 NBA season, Sabonis is slated to earn $30.6 million, positioning him as the second-highest-paid player on the Sacramento Kings roster, slightly behind De'Aaron Fox, according to figures from HoopsHype.

This marks a significant salary increase from the 2022-23 NBA season, when he earned $21.4 million.

Looking ahead to Sabonis' next contract, which takes effect in the next campaign, he is anticipated to earn around $41.8 million for the 2024-25 NBA season.
