New York Jets quarterback Zach Wilson comes off one of his best performances against the Houston Texans as he returns from the bench leading the Jets to win the game 30-6. After being benched yet another time due to poor performances by the New York Jets offense, Zach Wilson finds himself yet another chance to prove his worth as an NFL quarterback. And this time he makes the most of it. With the floor for the Jets offense becoming so low, after the Tim Boyle and Trevor Siemian experiment, Zach is granted the perfect opportunity to play free and show off why he was drafted at the number 2 pick in the 2021 NFL draft.
Wilson tallied 301 yards and 2 touchdown passes, as his only blemish of the game was a lost fumble on a 10 yard scramble attempt. Zach Wilson displayed his arm talent and maneuverability as he scrambles out of the pocket and hits his wide receiver Garrett Wislon on a wild throw down the middle of the field. But Zach's talent was never in question. It was if he could adapt to NFL play speed and reading coverages quickly. In his 3rd year, we are starting to see flashes of what he can bring to the organization.
With the Aaron Rodgers mentorship project still in motion, although it was derailed rather quickly, we can start to be hopeful that Zach Wilson may have a chance to take over and become the long term savior at quarterback that the New York Jets have been searching for. Understandably, it has only been one game since his return from the benching, but Wilson has shown that he definitely gives the Jets the best chance at winning games going forward. Whether it be for a new team next season or for the New York Jets franchise quarterback position, Zach Wilson will be making his case in these next few games.
