Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud is one of the most exciting players in the NFL today, performing incredibly well in his first season in the pros.

The 22-year-old was selected by the Texans with the second overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, following a standout college football career at Ohio State.

Ten weeks into the current NFL season, during which the Texans have achieved a 5-4 record, Stroud has accumulated 2,600 yards, demonstrating his skill with 15 passing touchdowns and an additional two rushing touchdowns.

Impressively, he has thrown only two interceptions throughout the year. Despite a completion rate of just under 62 percent, the former Buckeye consistently significantly impacts the field.

The Texans star is the clear frontrunner in the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year race, and some have even included him in discussions for the NFL Most Valuable Player award, with declarations suggesting that he could be the greatest rookie QB ever.

Stroud has broken several NFL records en route to his much-talked-about rookie season, and here are some of them.

1. Most passing attempts without an interception to start a career: 192

The Southern California native started his career on a high note, setting an NFL record for pass attempts without an interception at 192. The spectacular streak ended during Week 6 on an October 15 game against the New Orleans Saints as he threw a pick in the first quarter.

The Houston rookie QB surpassed Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott, who previously held the record with 176 pass attempts to start his career without an interception in 2016.

Stroud set the new record when he threw his 177th pass to start the season during Week 5 against the Atlanta Falcons on October 8.

2. Most passing yards in a game by a rookie: 470

Stroud delivered a stellar performance in a Week 9 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, throwing for 470 passing yards and completing five touchdown passes on 30 of 42 attempts as they mounted a 39-37 comeback win last Sunday, November 5.

Stroud's 470 passing yards established a new all-time NFL rookie record, surpassing former Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck's previous mark of 433 passing yards set during an Indianapolis 23-20 win over the Miami Dolphins in Week 9 of the 2012 season.

"It's a blessing - just humbled me. I put in a lot of work throughout the week, and the guys know that...I'm really blessed to break the record, and I'm really blessed to get the win," the rookie said after the game.

3. Most passing touchdowns in a game by a rookie: 5 (tied)

Stroud's five passing touchdowns in the same game against Tampa Bay also placed him in a tie for an all-time NFL record.

He joins a select group of players, including Daniel Jones, Deshaun Watson, Jameis Winston, and Matthew Stafford, who have all accomplished this notable feat.

His fifth touchdown pass, a 15-yard scoring connection with fellow rookie Tank Dell, occurred on his last game throw with only six seconds remaining that sealed the win for the Texans.
