Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is interested in fighting for a gold medal.

The 28-year-old has expressed his desire to play in the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, specifically in flag football, a variation of the NFL's American football, an event set to be introduced in the upcoming games.

"I definitely want to. But I've seen some of those guys play the flag football. They're a little faster than I am. I know there's not like linemen blocking for you," the two-time Super Bowl MVP said during a press conference in Germany, where they will face the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, November 5, at the Deutsche Bank Park in Frankfurt, for the league's annual international games.

"I'll be 31, 32 years old. So if I can still move around then, I'm going to try to get out there and throw the football around maybe in LA," the reigning NFL Most Valuable Player added.

Flag football added to Olympics

Last month, the International Olympic Committee added flag football for the 2028 Olympics.

The sport differs from American football in various ways. In flag football, players "tackle" opponents by removing a flag from a belt rather than engaging in physical contact.

The game is typically played with a smaller team size of 5-on-5 and on a smaller field measuring 50 yards, without the traditional offensive and defensive linemen in American football.
