Florida basketball will get plenty of attention after getting the commitment of the world's tallest teenager. This was after Olivier Rioux of IMG Academy announced he had chosen the Gators as his next stop for the 2024 NCAA basketball season.

"I am proud to announce that I have committed to the Florida gators for the 2024 season," Rioux said in an Instagram post on Wednesday, November 8.

Olivier Rioux's height is at 7-foot-6. The three-star recruit chose the Gators over Florida Atlantic, Coastal Carolina, and Nebraska, per ON3.com.

The Canadian basketball player holds the Guinness World Record for the world's tallest teenager (among males). His size automatically makes him a huge defensive presence for coach Todd Golden and the Gators, SI.com reported.

Offensively, Rioux continues to evolve. Should everything fall into place, the 17-year-old could be someone to look forward to once he decides to jump to the pro level.

Victor Wembanyama of the San Antonio Spurs is currently the hot item in the basketball scene. Hence, seeing the two giants on the same floor will be interesting.

Rioux's commitment to Florida also appends the list of tall players, making him the latest 7-foot-6 player in college basketball history. The other players who measure 7-foot-6 via College Hoops TV are:

  1. Manute Bol
  2. Shawn Bradley
  3. Mamadou N'Diaye
  4. Tacko Fall

Surprisingly, three players are taller than Rioux. They are:

  1. Neil Fingleton (7-foot-7.56)
  2. Paul Sturgess (7-foot-7.26)
  3. Kenny George (7-foot-7)
