The Colorado Buffaloes are struggling to find answers, losing four of their last four games. Buffs coach Deion Sanders is fully aware of this development, which may also affect the chances of his son, Shedeur Sanders' anticipated jump into the NFL.
There is no question that the 21-year-old quarterback has captured the attention of NFL scouts. The best person to ask on whether Shedeur Sanders' NFL jump will happen in the next draft or not is no other than Coach Prime himself.
The 56-year-old NFL Hall of Famer admitted when he appeared on the "Dan Patrick Show" that he is not thinking that far. Sanders did say that he expected both Shedeur and his other son, safety Shilo Sanders, to wait at least one more year before declaring for the NFL Draft, NBC Sports reported.
Hence, Shedeur Sanders' NFL jump is more likely not to happen in 2024. Although this could be bad news for those anticipating his entry into the pro ranks, it also gives the promising QB more time to improve his game. If all goes well, he could be a lock to be among the top 5 players in the 2025 NFL Draft at the earliest.
Currently, Shedeur ranks third among NCAA quarterbacks in passing yards (2,882) and fifth in passing touchdowns (24).
Further, the 21-year-old has also thrown for the most completions in the country, going 270/385 yards in 9 games this season, per ESPN.
Sanders reacts to Buffs' struggling offense
As for the Buffaloes, Sanders is not someone known to delve into disappointments. Questions about the Buffs' offense have been raised with Coach Prime's coaching changes.
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, November 7, Sanders addressed the play-calling arrangement issue via USA Today.
"Let that go man," Sanders said. "All that controversy and that stuff, we trying to raise these kids man. Grown folks' problems, that don't help kids. And I've been through two divorces, and I know that for a fact. Grown folks' problems don't help kids."
The Buffaloes are set to face the Arizona Wildcats on Sunday, November 12. Colorado is a -10.5 underdog against Arizona per BetMGM Sportsbook.
