The New York Jets' offense was absent again in their Week 9 game against the Los Angeles Chargers, who handed them a 6-27 beating.
The hosts came to the game with high expectations because of their defense. The stinging defense that has limited top quarterbacks like Patrick Mahomes, Jalen Hurt, and Josh Allen.
That defense showed up, but it is just one half of the game. Their offense was not there to complement their play on the other end.
Tyler Conklin was asked about their state of mind after yet another stinging loss, but even he cannot explain their offensive struggle.
"Why aren't we scoring touchdowns? I mean there's a lot of reasons why but I don't really have a direct answer for you to fix it right now," he told reporters after the match.
Wide receiver Garrett Wilson also expressed frustration about their touchdown drought. "When you play at this level and you play on the offensive side of the ball, if you weren't angry, I would think something was wrong," he said.
Why loss to the Chargers was especially disheartening?
The Chargers own the league's worst passing defense, but Zach Wilson and crew failed to take advantage of that in the game. Wilson recorded just 33 of 49 for 263 yards in the game. The internet, of course, roasted the team after yet another abysmal offensive outing.
Next up for the Jets are the Raiders.
