Former Philadelphia Eagles tight end Trey Burton returned to the Lincoln Financial Field on Sunday, November 5.
The 32-year-old served as the Eagles' Honorary Captain for their Sunday Night Football showdown against fierce division rivals Dallas Cowboys. The Eagles eventually held off the Cowboys in a thrilling affair, 28-23 to improved to 8-1 for the season.
Burton played a significant role as a member of the Eagles' team that clinched Super Bowl LII over the New England Patriots in February 2018.
He is renowned for his involvement in one of the most famous plays in Super Bowl history, where he threw a pass to quarterback Nick Foles for a touchdown at the end of the first half in the iconic trick play known as the "Philly Special."

Where is Trey Burton now?
Following the Super Bowl LII win, Burton left the Eagles to sign for the Chicago Bears the following season.
Burton's 2018 campaign concluded with 54 receptions for 569 yards and six touchdowns. Additionally, he was recognized as a Pro Bowl alternate.
He strugled with a groin injury in 2019 and was released by the Bears with a "failed physical" designation.
Burton signed with the Indianapolis Colts for the 2020 season for his final stint in the NFL. The team did not re-sign him at the end of the season.
Although he did not officially announce his retirement from the game and remains a free agent, his playing days are now likely behind him.
