The Arizona Diamondbacks have their backs against the wall after falling to a 7-11 defeat against the Texas Rangers in the World Series.
They are unfazed, though. Shortly after the result, manager Torey Lovullo issued a rallying cry ahead of their Game 6 showdown.
For Lovullo, being on the brink of elimination is not new to them, and they will continue their brand of baseball.
"You keep fighting," he told reporters.
"You stay connected. You commit to the plan and the process for 27 hours, and you close the game up to 11-7.
"You got the fans engaged, got a ton of energy. You got a closure to the game. There are a lot of positives to draw upon and I will."
"We gotta be able to play our finest game tomorrow, not worry about anything else."
He also drew inspiration from his players, who he said never let each other down throughout the whole season.
1-3 comebacks in MLB history
While returning from the jaws of defeat seems impossible in other sports, it is something that Major League Baseball has seen many times.
Climbing up from a 1-3 series record has been done six times in the World Series.
The latest to do it was the Chicago Cubs, who had to win their last three after winning the first game of the 2016 World Series.
This is the same situation for the Diamondbacks, who split the first two games with the Rangers.
