Defending champions Kansas City Chiefs saw their five-game winning streak end on Week 8 after bowing to their AFC West rivals Denver Broncos 9-24.

This is the first time the Broncos won against the Chiefs in 17 tries.

How does a team like the Chiefs get outplayed by one who hasn't shown consistency since the start of the season?

Chiefs' star quarterback had a simple explanation.

"They were the better football team. You have to give them props," he said, as quoted by The Athletic's Nate Taylor.

Sunday night was Mahomes' first road loss in the AFC West in 13 games.

The two-time Super Bowl MVP played through flu in the game, and it showed how he was not 100 percent. The Broncos kept him without a touchdown in the game, the first time since December 5, 2021.

His teammates echoed his sentiment, saying the Broncos played a high-level kind of football.

"They came in with something to prove and they did it. So, good job to them," safety Justin Reid said.

Wide receiver Mecole Hardman Jr also vowed to get better.

"I lost us that game! Gotta be better! That's on me."

Internet reacts to Chiefs' loss

As expected, the internet made fun of the Chiefs. Some even dragged Taylor Swift's name for the loss as she was not there to support rumored boyfriend Travis Kelce.
