Chase Young trade rumors have been making rounds, and it is getting louder each day, with the 2020 NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year set to hit free agency soon.
Although a Washington Commanders trade seems inevitable, Chase Young is not letting it get to his head. He is aware of the trade chatter but adds that he will not let it distract his 2023-24 NFL season, the Washington Post reported.
"You know, my name has been popping up since I've been here, regardless of a trade. I ain't trippin on nothing," the 24-year-old NFL player said.
Instead of delving into these NFL trade rumors, Young says he is focusing on playing for the Commanders this season. At the time of his interview, he stressed that all he cares about right now is their upcoming Week 8 matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles on October 29.
"I don't think about it at all. Just focused on the Eagles," the second-overall pick of the 2020 NFL Draft stated.
The NFL trade deadline is Tuesday, October 31, per NFL.com.
Chase Young's roller-coaster NFL career
Young entered the league in 2020 with high expectations. He did not disappoint. He bagged the Defensive Rookie of the Year with a 7.5-sack Pro Bowl debut, CBS Sports reported.
Unfortunately, Young was not spared from injuries. His lingering knee problem limited him to just 12 games in the 2021-22 season, although he managed to return from that.
However, the Commanders did not pick up his fifth-year option before the current NFL season started, indicating that Young could be shipped to a new NFL team soon.
With heavy investments in Jonathan Allen and Daron Payne, Young is projected to be someone who may be unloaded soon.
