The New York Giants have missed the services of Daniel Jones in their last two assignment due to a neck injury. In his place is Tyrod Taylor, who is filling the starting QB void well.
The Pro Bowl QB threw a pair of touchdowns in the Giants' win over the Washington Commanders, 14-7, last Sunday, October 22.
The performance and win was a much-needed one for the Giants, who are 2-5 for the season. With Jones still questionable, there is a huge possibility that the 34-year-old quarterback will start anew when the Giants play the New York Jets on Sunday, October 29.
Assuming Taylor comes up with another big performance for the Giants against the Jets, expect the clamor for him to be the starting QB to grow louder. However, that may only hold up until Jones is ready to play again, CBS Sports reported.
How is Daniel Jones?
Based on his latest press conference, Giants coach Brian Daboll had no update on Jones' condition. Although the sixth overall pick of the 2019 NFL Draft took part in practice last week, it was limited as Jones has yet to be cleared for contact.
Jones suffered the injury in their Week 5 loss to the Miami Dolphins, 31-16. The 26-year-old was forced out in the second half after getting sacked by Andrew Van Ginkel and was replaced by Taylor, ESPN reported.
No QB controversy
Despite Jones' injury and the impressive play of Taylor, the Giants are reportedly not in the midst of any controversy on who should be the rightful starting QB, per NFL Insider Jonathan Jones.
The scribe stressed that Jones remains the team's starting play-caller, hinting that he will likely get his job back once he is medically cleared.
