Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay had a firm message for placekicker Brett Maher following his critical misses against the Pittsburgh Steelers during their showdown on Sunday, October 22, at the SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.
The 33-year-old veteran struggled for the evening, missing a 53-yard field goal attempt in the first half and a 51-yard field goal attempt in the second half.
Another critical miss was an extra-point attempt after the Rams' first touchdown just before halftime.
Those missed kicks cost the Rams seven points, the same margin by which they lost to the Steelers, 24-17.
"We'll look at it and we'll see. He's got to be better. That's seven points that we missed out on that were key and critical for the momentum of the game and the type of game that it was. Those were tough ones today," McVay said about their placekicker.

Brett Maher already missed multiple kicks this season
Maher already missed two field goals in the Rams' victory over the Colts in their Week 4 game three weeks ago on October 1.
During this time, McVay supported his kicker and opted not to make a change on the depth chart.
The journeyman veteran has now made 17 out of 23 attempts this year, with four of those six misses from beyond 50 yards.
