South Africa Director of Rugby Rassie Erasmus has revealed that one of his players currently competing in the 2023 Rugby World Cup received death threats after their team beat the hosts France in the quarterfinals.
Rasmus, a former mainstay of the national team, also debunked a fake social media news over a quote attributed to him. In the X post, a user seems to suggest that Rasmus is rubbing salt on the wounds of French fans after their heated match.

South Africa barely edged the hosts in the quarterfinals, 29-28, to face England in the semifinals.
The threat, posted by Rasmus on his personal X account, says:
"Dirty son of a b****, I hope that when you return to Montpellier, you get murdered by French people on the ground. Gang of thieves, easy to win the title by cheating."
In another conversation screenshot, the user also targeted Reinach's son.
Rasmus expressed disappointment and regret
South Africa faces a formidable foe in England, and Rasmus rues that they have to deal with unruly fans.
Still, they will move on. It is unclear whether they will hold the misbehaving fan accountable for his twisted threats.
"Unfortunately, these threats was [sic] made to Cobus Reinach!! It's not nice and upsets a mom and dad to see things like that about their boy! But we are not gonna whine; we will just move on!! Hulle weet nie wat ons weet nie."
The South Africa-England Rugby World Cup match-up will be held at the Stade de France, Saint-Denis. The winner will face whoever comes out of the Argentina-New Zealand semifinal showdown.
