Aaron Rodgers' injury status remains in the air, although there is growing belief that the New York Jets quarterback could be back as early as January 2024.

However, former NFL MVP and current "The NFL Today" analyst Boomer Esiason weighed in on the Aaron Rodgers return timeline. He pointed out that the 39-year-old is taking a huge risk if he abruptly returns from his Achilles injury.

The 62-year-old former Jets player stressed how Aaron Rodgers' tendon needs to heal properly.

"The idea is to let the tendon heal first, and then you have to stretch it. If you're stretching it now, before it is actually fully healed, there is a very good chance it is going to be like a stretched-out rubber band that is going to lose its elasticity," the 1995 NFL Man of the Year explained.

Rodgers bullish on NFL return

Just recently, Rodgers mentioned that he would have to hit some markers to return this NFL season, ESPN reported.

An Aaron Rodgers return this NFL season got a bit of a lift when the 10-time Pro Bowler was spotted playing catch before the Jets game against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, October 15, at the MetLife Stadium.

While the concern of Esiason is vital, Rodgers may risk it, considering he is at the tail-end of his career. The one-time Super Bowl champion has not touched on the possibility of retirement, although most feel that Aaron Rodgers has nothing left to prove, USA Today reported.
