The San Antonio Spurs have been all about Victor Wembanyama this season, although Gregg Popovich has other young talent on the roster. However, the veteran coach will need other guys to step up, and Jeremy Sochan's stats show promise.

The 74-year-old coach is monitoring the 20-year-old power forward's progress. He made a good account of himself in the Spurs' preseason 120-104 win over the Miami Heat recently.

Coach Pop gave his assessment of Sochan's performance in that game when he spoke to Tom Orsborn of the San Antonio Express-News.

"I don't want to make any bold statements about good, bad, or indifferent, but he's energetic," the five-time NBA champion coach stated.

For those who followed Sochan after the Spurs drafted him, he vowed that his energy would be something he could bring paired with his hard work on the basketball court, SI.com reported.

"My energy is going to be there off the court and on the court. I'm going to have fun with it, but I'm going to play hard and work hard [as well]," Sochan said.

Jeremy Sochan's stats against the Heat

Looking at Jeremy Sochan's stats, the 6-foot-8 cager finished with 10 points, six rebounds, and three assists in 25 minutes of action, providing the needed support to Spurs rookie sensation Victor Wembanyama, CBS Sports reported.

Given those numbers and the fact that it is still NBA preseason, the 9th overall pick of the 2022 NBA Draft may need to do more to crack the Spurs' rotation.

Regardless, Popovich is keeping the door open - meaning Jeremy Sochan's playing time with the San Antonio Spurs this season may be better if he can step up and turn into a double-double machine alongside Victor Wembanyama.
