The New England Patriots need all the help they can get right now, especially in the quarterback position. Tom Brady's name has surfaced again as a potential option, although the chances of that happening are unlikely.
The seven-time Super Bowl champion addressed insinuations he may come out of retirement anew. But this time, Tom Brady has put a lid on all NFL return rumors when he spoke to Chris Bengel of CBS Sports.
"My parents would call, my kids would call," Brady stated in the latest episode of his "Let's Go!" SiriusXM show and podcast. "They'd kill me. I wouldn't be around by tonight."
Brady's first retirement came in February 2022. However, about a month later, the five-time Super Bowl MVP changed his mind to play another season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, NFL.com reported.
The two-time NFL Offensive of the Year retired for a second time last February in what appears to be for good, the New York Times reported. However, that has not stopped rumors about him possibly returning to the league despite being 46.
Patriots struggling for answers
The Patriots are 1-4 for the season and are searching for answers. They are coming off a humiliating loss to the New Orleans Saints, 34-0, and the job of coach Bill Belichick appears to be in peril.
Unless the fortunes of the Patriots improve, Pats' owner Robert Kraft is allegedly not opposed to possibly dismissing Belichick, Jeff Howe of The Athletic reported.
"On multiple occasions in recent years, he has lamented the team's lack of a postseason victory in the post-Brady era. ... Kraft has grown frustrated, if not downright angry, over this shortage of success," part of Howe's report read.
