Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton cleared the air regarding a rumor about his team amid their lackluster 1-4 start in the 2023 NFL season.

The 59-year-old coach addressed on Tuesday, October 10, recent reports suggesting the Broncos' willingness to engage in trade talks. However, he clarified that while he and General Manager George Paton aren't actively seeking trades of their players, they are responsive to incoming inquiries.

"George and I talk every day, three, four times a day. We're not looking to do business with any of our players. That doesn't prevent teams from calling. We pick the phone up but that's where it's at," the Super Bowl XLIV winning mentor told Denver reporter Mike Klis of 9NEWS.

The Broncos lost their fourth game of the current campaign against the New York Jets, 31-21, on Sunday, October 8 at home in the Empower Field, making them one of the league's most underperforming teams.

Previous report of a fire sale

NFL Network reporter James Palmer reported yesterday that the team is considering significant changes to their roster.

"Being there yesterday, the sense that I get from players in that locker room is a potential teardown is coming. That's just the way some of these players feel," Palmer said on The Insiders show.

Given their slim chances of making the playoffs, trading certain players in exchange for future draft picks may now be the optimal strategy for the team.
