The Boston Red Sox are making another serious change as part of a major team overhaul this offseason after finishing dead last in the American League East in 2023 with a win-loss record of 78-84.
The team has decided to part ways with pitching coach Dave Bush and third base coach and infield instructor Carlos Febles, according to The Boston Globe on Monday, October 9.
This decision follows Red Sox manager Alex Cora's statement from a week ago, where he expressed the team's commitment to enhancing the coaching and development of their players.
"Us as the coaching staff, we've gotta get better.. It's on us to do this in the offseason, do that in spring training and do it throughout the season next year. That's my challenge this year. Me and the coaches," the 47-year-old said.
The Red Sox promoted Dave Bush to oversee their major league pitchers after the 2019 season, while Febles joined the team's coaching staff in 2018 after a long stint in the minor leagues.

In addition to the coaching changes, the Red Sox have also parted ways with Japanese translator Keiichiro Wakabayashi, who joined the staff after the signing of outfielder Masataka Yoshida in late 2022.
The team believed there was room for improvement in the communication between the 30-year-old and the coaching staff.
