The New York Yankees won't advance to the MLB playoffs, and team captain Aaron Judge is unhappy.

This was after the Yankees were eliminated from postseason contention after they lost to the Arizona Diamondbacks, 7-1, on Sunday, September 24.

However, the loss was more of a formality since the Yankees were 6.5 games away from the wild-card spot. It was the first time the MLB team missed the bus to the postseason since 2016, MLB.com reported.

A notable person who was unsurprisingly unhappy was Judge when he spoke to Cole Harvey of ESPN. The 2022 AL MVP is aware that the New York Yankees need to make the necessary tweaks to have a better season in 2024.

"It's not going to happen overnight," Judge said. "So we got to hit the ground running, especially when the season ends. We've got a lot to work on, a lot of things to change and a lot of stuff going on around here that needs to be fixed."

The 31-year-old outfielder did not elaborate on what the Yankees need to address. However, the fact that they are second-to-last in batting average and 24th in runs scored in 2023 hints at what the Yanks need to do, per the Bleacher Report.

Judge will finish the MLB season

Judge is the reason why the Yankees are not ranked lower. He has not been 100% healthy since returning from a torn ligament in his big right toe in July. Regardless, the five-time All-Star intends to play the season through, the New York Post reported.

"There was talks of stuff getting shut down, but I gotta be out there. A leader on this team, especially with these young guys we got coming up, you gotta show them that you gotta post even if you're not feeling good, not feeling great. You gotta be out there every single day for your teammates," Judge quipped.
