The Colorado Buffaloes got further bad news after they were brought crashing back to reality by the Oregon Ducks on Saturday, September 23. The Buffs dropped out of the Associated Press Top 25 college football poll after their 42-6 loss to the Ducks.
From the No. 19 spot, the Buffs are now at the 32nd spot, CBS Sports reported.
It was an unfortunate development for the Buffaloes, who cracked the AP Top 25 early in the season following an opening week upset of TCU, last season's runner-up, the Associated Press reported.
The Colorado Buffaloes have been the talk of the town after their 3-0 start this season. After losing to the Ducks, they will try to get things back on track when they face Boulder next week.
This will be a critical game for Deion Sanders and the Buffaloes, something that may determine if they can jump back into the rankings or slowly fade away this season.
Coach Prime offered no excuses for their humiliating loss to the Ducks. He admitted that they were handed an old-fashioned butt-kicking and that his boys didn't necessarily play up to par against Oregon, ESPN reported.
"We played like hot garbage," Sanders said. "Good old-fashioned butt kicking. No excuses."
The Ducks outplayed the Buffaloes on Saturday, allowing 522 total yards - 282 passing, 240 rushing - and failing to gain 200 yards overall.
Shedeur Sanders was notably frustrated after getting sacked four times in the first half. No less than Deion Sanders admitted that it was a huge factor in the loss.
"When they got to our quarterback, it's a wrap," Deion said of his son. "It's not like we were running the ball successfully."
All is not yet lost for the Buffs
However, that loss has not dampened the spirit of Coach Prime. He vows that this will be the worst most will see of the Buffaloes and remains upbeat about the team's future.
"We ain't got time to have a pity party. Ain't nobody walking around the locker room with napkins and tissues. We got some work to do. I can see the future, and it looks really good," Buffs coach Deion Sanders stated.
