A New England Patriots fan did not endure "traumatic" injuries after collapsing and subsequently passing away during the Pats' game against the Miami Dolphins at the Gillette Stadium last Sunday, September 17, authorities reported on Wednesday, September 20.
Initial autopsy findings revealed the presence of an underlying "medical issue" was a factor behind the death of Dale Mooney.
"Preliminary autopsy results did not suggest traumatic injury, but did identify a medical issue. Cause and manner of death remain undetermined pending further testing," Norfolk County District Attorney Michael Morrissey announced in a statement.
Mooney, a 53-year-old man and a 30-year Patriots season ticket holder, passed away while watching the game at the 300-level of the stadium.
The investigation has involved multiple interviews with law enforcement personnel and a comprehensive analysis of various video footages that captured the altercation before Mooney's collapse.
No charges have been filed yet regarding the incident, while the investigation is still "open and ongoing."

Witnesses reported that a Miami Dolphins fan punched the Newmarket, New Hampshire resident during the fourth quarter of the Sunday Night Football showdown, resulting in him losing consciousness.
However, the recent development suggested that there may not be a direct connection between his tragic passing and his altercation with the Dolphins fan.
