The Colorado Buffaloes are rolling, and a player that has been standing out is Shedeur Sanders. Hence, it is no surprise that the 21-year-old son of Buffs head coach Deion Sanders is now in Heisman Trophy talks.

The 21-year-old was a key figure for the Buffs in their Rocky Mountain showdown last Saturday, September 16. That performance caught the eye of media personality Skip Bayless, who believes Shilo Sanders is the Heisman trophy leader for the 2023 college football season.

"Shedeur [Sanders], a Heisman trophy candidate, in my opinion, the Heisman trophy leader... He's becoming better known for his first name than his last name," Bayless said on The Skip Bayless Show.

Sanders and the Buffaloes remain undefeated as of this writing. However, things are expected to get tougher as they face the Oregon Ducks in Week 4.

Like the Buffs, the Ducks are also undefeated. Making it daunting for Coach Prime and company as well is that they will play at Autzen Stadium, one of the most intimidating venues in college football.

Aside from that, Travis Hunter is uncertain for the Buffs against the Ducks, NBC News reported.

The 21-year-old was forced out against the Rams after suffering an illegal hit in the second quarter. He is another Heisman trophy winner candidate alongside Sanders.

Sanders needs to stand out once more

Shedeur Sanders must pull off another huge performance to help the Buffaloes nail another win against an undefeated team. If he succeeds, there is no doubt that the 21-year-old will increase his Heisman trophy chances.

The Ducks are favorites to win over the Buffaloes by almost three touchdowns, according to SI SportsBook Odds via SI.com.

The last time the two teams met was in 2022. Oregon won, 49-10, at Folsom Field in Boulder.
