New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley will be missing some time due to an injury he suffered during their tight 31-28 comeback victory over the Arizona Cardinals last Sunday, September 17.
An MRI confirmed no structural damage to Barkley's ankle, confirming he only sustained an "ordinary" sprain. Still, it will keep him out for three weeks, according to league insider Adam Schefter of ESPN.
With the two-time Pro Bowl selection confirmed to be out for the next three weeks, he will surely miss their next road game on Thursday against the San Francisco 49ers and a home game against the Seattle Seahawks on Monday, October 2.
Fortunately, the injury wasn't as bad as it looked. Initial X-ray results came back negative, showing no signs of any fracture.
Cardinals linebacker Krys Barnes crashed onto his right ankle during a run on second-and-13 with 1:08 left in the game, causing the right ankle sprain.
The injury caused the 26-year-old to be helped off the field, as he could not put any weight on his right leg, sparking fears for the Giants fanbase.
