The New York Giants' Anthony Thomas suffered a hamstring injury in their lopsided Week 1 loss to the Dallas Cowboys, 40-0.

Although the 24-year-old offensive tackle sustained the injury in the first quarter, Thomas willed to help his team, but to no avail. He continued to play in 53 of the offensive snaps before leaving the game for good in the fourth quarter, the New York Post reported.

However, forcing the issue despite playing with a hamstring injury may take its toll. Thankfully, for now, the former Georgia Bulldogs player reportedly avoided serious injury. But this does not necessarily mean that Thomas is off the hook.

The 2022 Second-team All-Pro will need an MRI to determine the extent of his hamstring injury. Results showed that Andrew Thomas did not sustain a long-term injury, although he is still expected to miss some games for the Giants, per Jordan Raanan of ESPN NFL Nation.

A better assessment of how fit Thomas is for the Giants will be known on Wednesday, September 13, when the New York Giants return to work.

The Giants are scheduled to face the Arizona Cardinals next in Week 2 action. There is no official word on whether the Georgia native can play. If he does miss the game, it would be a huge blow for New York, who are hoping to get back on track following their 40-0 blowout at the hands of the Cowboys.

Giants coach Brian Daboll admitted that the Giants have their work cut out. A shakeup looms, and the 48-year-old coach said he plans to be upfront with his players and tell them exactly what they did wrong, the Associated Press reported.

Daboll needs to act fast for the Giants to get their act together. Things will not get any easier since they will also face the San Francisco 49ers after the Cards four days later.
