The Chicago Cubs are looking to reinforce their roster to secure their playoff berth.

The team is calling up their top prospect, outfielder Pete Crow-Armstrong, from Triple-A Iowa Cubs.

The 21-year-old is ranked No. 12 overall in MLB Pipeline's prospect rankings.

After being rated as one of the best prospects in 2020, the former Vanderbilt University player was selected by the New York Mets in the first round of the 2020 MLB Draft with the 19th overall pick.

In July 2021, the Mets traded Crow-Armstrong to the Chicago Cubs for middle infielder Javier Báez and pitcher Trevor Williams.

Since then, Crow Armstrong has played for several Cubs minor league affiliates - the Single A Myrtle Beach Pelicans, High A South Bend Cubs, Double A Tennessee Smokes, and the Triple A Iowa Cubs.

The young outfielder has roots in Hollywood, with his parents, Matthew John Armstrong and Ashley Crow, both actors. His mother notably starred in the family sports film about baseball, "Little Big Leagues."

Chicago Cubs looking to lock up postseason berth

The Cubs are currently fighting for a playoff spot with a 77-67 win-loss record, good for second place in the National League Central and the second spot of the NL Wild Card teams. They are also three games behind division leaders Milwaukee Brewers.

However, the Wild Card race is tight, with the Miami Marlins, who is just outside of the top three NL Wild Card teams, just 2.5 games behind the Cubs.
