San Francisco 49ers head coach spoke about the availability of defensive end Nick Bosa for their season opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers on the road at the Acrisure Stadium on Sunday, September 10.
The 43-year-old tactician confirmed that Bosa will be available for their Week 1 match-up.
"He looked exactly how we were expecting him to look. Looks in real good shape. Looks ready to go. We got an idea how we're going to use him and I think he'll do all right," Shanahan said about Bosa's condition.
Bosa also reiterated that he plans to play against the Steelers, saying he is confident about his conditioning and being ready for a normal workload.
However, he was initially not sure about his head coach's plans for him in the upcoming game.

Bosa coming off a 43-day holdout
Before signing a historic five-year contract worth $170 million and $122.5 million in guaranteed money that made him the highest-paid defensive player in NFL history, Bosa held out from all team activities, including training camp, for 43 days.
The 25-year-old spent the past six weeks at his home in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Meanwhile, his agent, Brian Ayrault, was negotiating with the team on the other side of the coast in California.
There were moments when Bosa thought the deal would fail to materialize, but he ultimately trusted that the 49ers organization would have his best interest in mind.
