The Los Angeles Rams will be without a star wide receiver for an extended time.
Rams head coach Sean McVay told reporters on Thursday, August 31, that he suffered a setback regarding his hamstring injury and is now day-to-day, per NFL insider Adam Schefter of ESPN.
"We want to be able to get him back right. We're obviously a much better team when he's available," the 37-year-old coach said.
McVay did not state if the Super Bowl LVI MVP will be able to play their season opener, added that there is a difference between return to play and return to performance, and they want the latter for Kupp.
They know how special of a player and person Kupp is, and they want to make sure they are smart in handling his injury setback to get back to playing the way he can.
"Whether that is Sept. 10th or not, we'll continue to monitor that and control what we can control," McVay added.
Kupp missed the final eight games of the 2022 NFL season due to a high ankle sprain.

Kupp suffered a hamstring injury a month ago
The 2021 NFL Offensive Player of the Year sustained the hamstring injury a month ago during team practice on August 1.
He did not appear to be limping and in physical pain after picking up the injury, but it took him more than three weeks to return to practice.
